Grapefruit
Bright · invigorating
Sharper and less sweet than lemon, so it reads as confidence rather than cheerfulness.
The Gojo link: his radiant, can’t-look-away energy - the man who walks into a room and owns it without raising his voice.

The Anisence Journal · Fragrance Notes
Grapefruit, sea water, bay leaf, ambergris. Nine notes, each one chosen for a specific side of Satoru Gojo - the confidence, the brilliance and the weight he carries alone. Here is the full process, note by note, from the team that built the scent.
The Gojo Inspired Fragrance smells bright, aquatic and citrus-forward on first spray, turns sharp and herbal-floral in the heart, then dries down into a deep woody-earthy base. Fresh and playful on the surface, quietly heavy underneath, which is exactly how the character reads.

Getting there took longer than the list suggests. Below is how we actually built it: the brief, the character profile we wrote first, the notes we tested, and the ones we threw out.
We never start from “what would smell nice”. We start from the character, and we only let a note into the formula if it can justify itself. The process runs in four stages.
Before any materials, we wrote Gojo down in four words: confident, playful, mysterious, untouchable. Then the harder part... the contradiction. He is the loudest person in the room and the most isolated. A scent that is only fresh and fun would have been a cosplay of the grin and nothing else.
Confidence and charm map cleanly onto citrus. Composure under pressure asks for something aquatic: cool, clean, calm. Strength and solitude live in woods, resins and moss. That gave us a fresh-aquatic opening over a woody-earthy base, with the brain of the fragrance sitting in between.
Gojo is a character who reveals himself slowly, so the fragrance had to do the same. The opening is almost disarmingly bright. Thirty minutes in, the herbs and jasmine sharpen it. By the dry-down you are left with something darker and quieter than you were sold at first spray.
Every trial was worn for a full wear cycle and judged on one question: does this feel like him at hour one, hour four and hour eight? Blotters are great for a first impression, which is why we send a scented blotter card for each character - but skin is the only honest judge.
Note by note
Nine materials made the final formula. This is the reasoning behind each one.
Bright · invigorating
Sharper and less sweet than lemon, so it reads as confidence rather than cheerfulness.
The Gojo link: his radiant, can’t-look-away energy - the man who walks into a room and owns it without raising his voice.
Lively · zesty
Rounds off the grapefruit’s bitter edge and keeps the opening from feeling severe.
The Gojo link: the playful charm behind the smirk. Teasing his students, buying sweets, refusing to take anything seriously until he has to.
Crisp · airy
A saline, ozonic accord that stretches the citrus out and gives the whole top a cool, open feel.
The Gojo link: effortless control. Nothing gets through - the calm of someone who has never had a reason to panic.
Herbaceous · sharp
The note most people miss on a blotter and notice on skin. It cuts the sweetness and adds an aromatic bite.
The Gojo link: razor-sharp intellect. He is three moves ahead and bored of saying so.
Soft · captivating
Used at a low dose on purpose: enough warmth to soften the herbs, never enough to turn the scent floral.
The Gojo link: the hidden kindness he saves for his students and almost never admits to.
Rich · reflective
Warm, salty-skin depth that makes the whole fragrance feel worn rather than sprayed.
The Gojo link: the loneliness that comes with being the strongest.
Smoky · robust
A dry, faintly smoked wood. It gives the base its spine without going sweet or gourmand.
The Gojo link: raw strength and resilience that never needs announcing.
Earthy · mysterious
Fractionated so it reads clean and modern rather than dusty - shadow, not incense shop.
The Gojo link: his quiet, philosophical introspection behind the blindfold.
Deep · grounding
Green, mineral and slightly damp. It anchors the woods and ties the base back to the sea-air opening.
The Gojo link: the protector standing between his students and the world.
What we left out
The obvious move was icy mint for the white hair and blue eyes. On skin it read as toothpaste and gave the scent a cheap, sporty finish. Sea water gives the same coolness with far more elegance.
He loves sweets, so a gourmand base was tempting. It flattened everything - a comfort scent, not an aura. Ambergris keeps the warmth and loses the dessert.
Smoke and incense suited the Unlimited Void, but pushed the fragrance solemn and heavy. Guaiac wood carries that smoky weight while leaving room for the grin.
How it wears
0-15 min
A rush of citrus and sea air
Loud, bright and unmistakably him. Projection is strong in this phase - two sprays is plenty.
30 min-2 hrs
Herbs and jasmine sharpen it
The fun settles into something more composed. This is the stretch most people describe as “grown-up”.
3 hrs onward
A woody aura that lingers
Ambergris, guaiac wood and oak moss sit close to the skin - quieter, warmer, a little untouchable.
To get the full arc: spray on warm pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) and don’t rub. A light mist on clothing or hair leaves a subtler trail that lasts longer.
Smell it for yourselfDid it work?
“Honestly didn’t think a fragrance could actually capture Gojo but wow… this is so spot on. At first, it’s all fresh and bright, but then it settles into something a little deeper and almost mysterious? I’m obsessed.”
“Quite a playful yet still masculine scent, albeit quite ‘youthful’ in its tone. Projection is strong… still a strong recommend nonetheless.”
FAQ
Fresh aquatic and woody. Grapefruit, orange and sea water open it; bay leaf and jasmine form the heart; ambergris, guaiac wood, patchouli and oak moss make up the base. Bright and playful first, deeper and more mysterious after an hour.
Unisex. The citrus-aquatic opening and woody base sit comfortably on anyone - it is built around a character, not a gender.
It is an Eau de Parfum concentration with strong projection in the first hour and a close-worn woody dry-down after that. Reviewers typically report a full day on clothing and several hours on skin, depending on skin type and climate.
No. It is an original, fan-inspired fragrance created by Anisence in the UK. We’re fans too, and we built the scent around how Gojo feels - not around official branding.
